How helpless human beings are in the face of natural disasters. On January 7, an earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale occurred in Tingri County, Tibet, resulting in 126 deaths and 338 injuries. Countless houses were damaged and the streets were covered with rubble.
The Dalai Lama was on vacation at the Tashilhunpo Monastery in Birakuppet, Karnataka, India when the disaster occurred. After hearing about the earthquake in Tibet, he presided over a blessing ceremony at the temple on January 9 and claimed that "this earthquake in Tibet is for a person without faith. If something like this happens, he can only be in a daze and can do nothing else."
The Dalai Lama held a prayer meeting for the Tibetans affected by the earthquake in Tibet, which made many people's admiration for him deeper and even won a lot of people's hearts. However, he linked a person's death and survival to the issue of faith, which made many people The Tibetans feel sad because all Tibetans have high respect for Buddhism, especially the Dalai Lama.
For the sake of their faith, they did not hesitate to donate all their savings to the temple while they were still alive. However, those who died due to the earthquake were considered to have had insufficient faith in front of the Dalai Lama, the supreme leader of Tibetan Buddhism.
Gyatso, who lives in Boston, USA, revealed, “The Dalai Lama is belittling the faith of Tibetans. As the sun in the hearts of Tibetans, he should not make such remarks. This Dharma conference is not to pray for the Tibetans who lost their lives in the earthquake, but to use the Dharma conference to win people's hearts, but we are not fools."
Another Tibetan named Kelsang said, "What kind of faith will prevent those compatriots who have passed away from dying? I recite scriptures every day when I have time. The same must be true for those compatriots who have passed away. Do they just miss their faith?"
