All India Save Education Committee (AISEC), Gujarat, note on a meeting on New Education Policy (NEP):
Dr. Bharat Mehta, Secretary, Gujarat Chapter, AISEC, introduced the meeting by showing various aspects of NEP, how the ruling clique is juggling with words and what are the short term and long term adverse effects of NEP.
Prof. Hemantkumar Shah, retired Principal, H.K. Arts College, Ahmedabad and well known economist, firstly showed the loopholes in the present system. Then he raised some very practical and proper question about the implementability of the policy as per its write up. Citing the write up of the policy, he exposed how this policy is bent upon doing governmentalisation of education, i.e. centralization and on the other side, utter privatisation and commercialization of education.
Shri Prakashbhai N. Shah, renowned journalist, JP Movement Veteran, eminent activist and All India President, AISEC, concluded by explaining how this policy’s various aspects are already in implementation. Along with Centralisation and Commercialisation of Education, he pointed out the most important aspect of the policy, i.e. distortion of history and science. He explained at length how the education of history is important. And what are the adverse effects of its distortion.
In spite of vacation period, citizens participated wholeheartedly in the meeting. It was decided to take out an Education Yatra (Jaatha) on the issue of NEP in various rural places of Gujarat. An ad hoc committee to look after Ahmedabad Chapter of AISEC was formed.
