“If the shops would open, it would mean a disaster by way of volcanic eruption of the Covid-19”, says Firoz Bakht Ahmed, Chancellor, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad, underlining, the decision will mean a “huge confusion and misunderstanding on the variety of the shops to be opened, as almost all the shops might open, even changing their trade items for making up the month long closure owing to the lockdown.”
Referring to an earlier letter which had shot to Modi to ensure that lockdown should be extended till the Muslim festival Ramzan ends on May 24, Bakht pleads in the new second letter to Modi, “It is a matter of an extreme urgent concern that in Delhi, Maharashtra and other states have decided to open shops in a calibrated manner.”
Bakht says, “My American friends who are praising you for your excellent and successful lockdown in India to fight the pandemic, are of the view that in the present scenario, had the US a President like Narendra Modi, not so many lives might have been lost!”
According to Bakht, “I hope the order of opening shops at least in the cities will be negated no sooner than later to save India from a massive volcanic eruption of the Covid-19 resulting in huge number of casualties.”
He adds, “If this order is not reversed, there’s a potential threat that the people, being undisciplined, will break the norms that might be extremely dangerous and the country, like Italy and Spain might pass into the community stage.”
