Eco-campaigner's death: File FIR against Modi, Gadkari, Uma Bharati, demands Haridwar-based civil rights body

A Haridwar-based civil rights organization, Matu Jansangthan, expressing anguish over the death of Swami Gyan Swaroop Sanand (GD Agrawal), who was on hunger fast for 111 days, has characterized this as “government assassination” of the top environment campaigner for cleaning up Ganga.
Former professor of at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, one who served as the Central Pollution Control Board’s (CPCB's) member secretary, the 87-year old campaigner, said Matu Jansangathan, demanded free flow of Ganga at a time when top government ministers, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi callous towards his demand.
Signed by the organization’s convener, Vimal Bhai, its statement said, an FIR should be registered under Sec 302 of IPC, and in this Narendra Modi, Nitin Gatkari and Uma Bharti should be named “for the murder of the Swami, because in a letter he has said that Modi will be responsible for his death.”
Pointing out that Matu Jansangathan has been raising environmental as well as ecology-related issues for quite some time, the statement added, the government has “come forward with its real face” by favouring big dams and not caring about the sanctity of Ganga.
