Gujarat Forensic Lab doesn't have hashing algorithm to "detect" morphed images: Sanjeev Bhatt sex video takes new turn

Original: Obama and Michelle; morphed: with Modi

By Munir Ahmed
Facts have come to light with strong suggestions that the Gujarat Forensic Science Laboratory is тАЬill-equippedтАЭ to authenticate the sex-video, cited by the state government to issue show-cause notice on suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt on the charge of moral turpitude.
The state home department had issued a show cause notice on Bhatt, seeking an explanation within 10 days for allegedly having a тАЬrelationship with a woman other than his wifeтАЭ.
A 1988 batch IPS officer, Bhatt had filed an affidavit before the Supreme Court, claiming that he had attended a meeting on February 27, 2002 at Narendra ModiтАЩs residence in Gandhinagar, where he claimed the then chief minister told his officers to тАЬallow Hindus to vent their angerтАЭ.
The Gujarat government has claimed that it has received a pen drive containing a 11-minute video clip showing Bhatt with a woman. Bhatt has said that the man seen in the video clip was not him but someone with general resemblance. тАЬI am prepared to face a thorough bio-metric test to prove this,тАЭ he has insisted.
The show-cause notice claimed that the forensic science laboratory at Gandhinagar had тАЬconfirmedтАЭ the authenticity of the video clip and that it had not been tampered with. It is a different matter that the laboratory does not have the requisite hashing algorithm that can detect tampering.
Ironically, the requisite hashing algorithm has been developed by additional director general of police VK Mall after five-years of research, which the state government could have used to verify the authenticity of the video. On Wednesday Mall presented his algorithm model before a jury of academics at the Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information Technology, Gandhinagar, while defending his thesis for doctoral degree. The jury passed his thesis with flying colours.
тАЬEasy availability of user-friendly image editing software has made modification of digital images a popular childтАЩs playтАЭ, Mall is learnt to have told the jury, adding, тАЬMalicious tampering of digital images has serious ramification in legal documents, copyright issues, photo journalism, celebritiesтАЩ lifestyle, fashion statements, beauty and fitness products, entertainment sector, medical science, biometric images and forensic cases.тАЭ
Critics point towards how supporters of BJPтАЩs prime ministerial candidate Modi and paid IT professionalsтАЭ morphed and edited digital images using photo editing software and circulated them widely in social media In the last Lok Sabha elections. Some of these тАШphoto-shoppedтАЩ images and videos were aimed at tarnishing the images of Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
Morphed images ahead of the rolls included Modi walking with Barack Obama in the corridors of White House,  and Modi's image tattooed on a young girl's back.
The Gujarat Forensic Science Laboratory not having requisite hashing algorithm for detecting fake images has come to light amidst UPтАЩs suspended IPS officer Amitabh Thakur declared, in a a letter to the Gujarat government, that even if Bhatt was in the video, it could not be held as a misconduct. Only his family had the right to object.
"In this case, sadly it seems the privacy of Bhatt has been pierced into and publicly divulged which does not seem appropriate, legally and ethically," Thakur said in his letter he has sent to Gujarat home secretary PK Taneja.
"Take strict legal and administrative action against every person who has infringed the right to privacy owned by Sanjiv Bhatt and has unnecessarily brought a private matter into public realm, bringing Bhatt, his family members and the concerned woman, unnecessarily and improperly in precarious position," the letter says.
Citing Rule 20 of the All India Services Conduct Rules, 1968, under which the notice has been issued, Thakur says, it only тАЬprohibits is public drinking, heavy use of drugs, being intoxicated in public....what a person does as regards having physical relationship with another person is definitely his personal affair, as long as it does not flout the law of the land."

Remember Sanjay Jishi Sex CD to force his departure ? Remember the facial resemblance of Joshi with Sohrabuddin ? Remember the conjecture as to why Sohrabuddin was killed ? Compare Bhatt's face with late Sohrabuddin and Sanjay Joshi . Tempting , no ?

Beyond his riding skill, Karl Umrigar was admired for his radiance, sportsmanship, and affability

By Harsh Thakor*  Karl Umrigar's name remains etched in the annals of Indian horse racing, a testament to a talent tragically cut short. An accident on the racetrack at the tender age of nineteen robbed India of a rider on the cusp of greatness. Had he survived, there's little doubt he would have ascended to international stature, possibly becoming the greatest Indian jockey ever. Even 46 years after his death, his name shines brightly, reminiscent of an inextinguishable star. His cousin, Pesi Shroff, himself blossomed into one of the most celebrated jockeys in Indian horse racing.

AurangzebтАЩs last will recorded by his Maulvi: Allah shouldn't make anyone emperor

By Mohan Guruswamy  AurangzebтАЩs grave is a simple slab open to the sky lying along the roadside at Khuldabad near Aurangabad. I once stopped by to marvel at the tomb of an Emperor of India whose empire was as large as Ashoka the Great's. It was only post 1857 when Victoria's domain exceeded this. The epitaph reads: "Az tila o nuqreh gar saazand gumbad aghniyaa! Bar mazaar e ghareebaan gumbad e gardun bas ast." (The rich may well construct domes of gold and silver on their graves. For the poor folks like me, the sky is enough to shelter my grave) The modest tomb of Aurangzeb is perhaps the least recognised legacies of the Mughal Emperor who ruled the land for fifty eventful years. He was not a builder having expended his long tenure in war and conquest. Towards the end of his reign and life, he realised the futility of it all. He wrote: "Allah should not make anyone an emperor. The most unfortunate person is he who becomes one." AurangzebтАЩs last will was re...

How the slogan Jai Bhim gained momentum as movement of popularity and revolution

By Dr Kapilendra Das*  India is an incomprehensible plural country loaded with diversities of religions, castes, cultures, languages, dialects, tribes, societies, costumes, etc. The Indians have good manners/etiquette (decent social conduct, gesture, courtesy, politeness) that build healthy relationships and take them ahead to life. In many parts of India, in many situations, and on formal occasions, it is common for people of India to express and exchange respect, greetings, and salutation for which we people usually use words and phrases like- Namaskar, Namaste, Pranam, Ram Ram, Jai Ram ji, Jai Sriram, Good morning, shubha sakal, Radhe Radhe, Jai Bajarangabali, Jai Gopal, Jai Jai, Supravat, Good night, Shuvaratri, Jai Bhole, Salaam walekam, Walekam salaam, Radhaswami, Namo Buddhaya, Jai Bhim, Hello, and so on. A soft attitude always creates strong relationships. A relationship should not depend only on spoken words. They should rely on understanding the unspoken feeling too. So w...

CPMтАЩs evaluation of BJP reflects its political character and its reluctance to take on battle against neo-fascism

By Harsh Thakor*  A controversial debate has emerged in the revolutionary camp regarding the Communist Party of India (Marxist)'s categorization of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Many Communists criticize the CPMтАЩs reluctance to label the BJP as a fascist party and India as a fascist state. Various factors must be considered to arrive at an accurate assessment. Understanding the original meaning and historical development of fascism is essential, as well as analyzing how it manifests in the present global and national context.
